Social Program

During the academy we offered additional evening lectures for all students of the Academy and several optional excursions.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24:

Optional trip to Melaka (English name: Malacca)

Centuries of colonization by the Portuguese, Dutch, and the British as well as development of Straits Chinese culture have influenced the architecture of the town. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Melaka is located about 100 km south of Bangi. We will go there by bus in the morning and you will have the possibility to visit the town’s major attractions around the Stadthuys on your own. Furthermore, you will have time to wonder at Jonker walk and do some shopping if you like. A map and information on interesting places around Stadthuys and Jonker Walk will be provided. At 3:00 pm we are planning on meeting at Muara Jetty (near Flor de la Mar / Maritime Museum phase I) for a ride on the Melaka River Cruise.
